Perhaps a conversion to Islam would be in order? It would certainly give you something to talk about with the fam!

@Elaine: I TOTALLY agree with you that Job is important. It's actually about theology, and that makes it more significant as a religious text than anything since at least Leviticus.Michael5000https://www.blogger.com/profile/10148584819327475239noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30817870.post-65777517716407557152009-04-06T14:56:00.000-07:002009-04-06T14:56:00.000-07:00Rebel, that's pretty much the way it is. You can find other people to share the journey with...

I actually recommended one of Harold Kushner's books, first published in the early 80's, to Michael5000, because it discusses the Book of Job and the problem of human suffering so thoroughly: _When Bad Things Happen to Good People_. The title scared me so much that I actually got it from a library so I would not have to invest any money in what could have been a very upsetting book. Instead, I have bought and given away a dozen copies over the past 25+ years. One of those copies was for my daughter... but that is another story.

I think Job is an important book because it does tackle a very difficult, painful subject. I mean, the guy could have done a romance novel instead, huh?Elainenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30817870.post-86219809477416793652009-04-01T13:15:00.000-07:002009-04-01T13:15:00.000-07:00I think this is where I get the basis of my genera...I think this is where I get the basis of my general philosophy: Sometimes life is shitty, but you just have to keep going and someday things might not be so shitty anymore.Rebelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12835352917180439099noreply@blogger.com
